We are always on the lookout for amazing tutors to bring school subjects to life and support learners in our Afterschool Programmes. If you are between the ages of 18 years to 30 years, have a flair for tutoring and a colossal passion for working with children and youth , kindly go through the Frequently Asked Questions and apply for a Tutoring opportunity.

If you would like to enrol as a Tutor at PYMA you have to go through the  normal application process. Kindly complete our online form ( available on the website), ensure that you   upload all required documents in your online application form.  Please make sure you complete all required fields. Our Programmes team will revert to you as soon as possible after receiving your application. All applications will only be reviewed if they are fully completed and include all the following required documents have been attached and these included:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Academic Record

Yes. Our programmes  schedule is flexible. All tutors who work with  learners in the primary programme attend our programme from Monday to Friday( 15h00 -18h00) .Tutors working with High School Learners attend our programme on selected day ( Monday, Wednesday, Friday) between 15h00 to 18h00).

Based on the nature of our programme,our tutors need to be at our premises in order for them to interact physically with learners. If a learner is not present on a particular day, a tutor is supposed to deliver a tutorial virtually or share class work via our virtual platform. 

Yes,a tutors should be able to provide assistance in more than one subject. We kindly advise our tutors to be more versatile and flexible in this regard.

Yes. during the application process, tutors can choose the grade/ learners to work with.  As per the shortlisting of all applications and onboarding process, tutors can be placed in the chosen grade. In other instances, a tutor can also be placed in another grade that he/she has not chosen.

In order for you to know if you have been selected, our Programmes Team will send you an email inviting you for an interview. If an applicant passes the interview process, the latter will be invited at a Tutors Training.

  Yes. Tutor needs to be certified with a Matric Certificate.  More so, they require the below requirements in order for them to  become a tutor.
 
  • 18 – 30 Years old
  • South African Citizen/Permanent Resident
  • No criminal record for violent crimes
  • Have passed Matric
  • Plan to pass Matric by the start of the programme
  • Able to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing

As part of ensuring that tutors, learners,staff  tutors, brand is protected, we conduct a series of background checks. Before any tutor is accepted into the programme, we will ask them to sign a child protection policy, sign an affidavit form ( acts a police clearance certificate) in front of a commissioner of oath at any police station around our locality. Our tutors also sign a non disclosure agreement and get trained on first aid and fire training before any interaction is conducted with learners.

Each Tutor is structured based on the flexible programme schedule.  All tutors who work with  learners in the primary programme attend our programme from Monday to Friday( 15h00 -18h00) .Tutors working with High School Learners attend our programme on selected day ( Monday, Wednesday, Friday) between 15h00 to 18h00). During the busy academic term, we also hold tutorials on Saturdays from 09h00 till 13h00. It is compulsory for all learners and tutors to be early and present at all times.

Yes. we offer a modest stipendium for our Tutors. The stipendium basically covers for transport costs.

All our Tutors that are enrolled in the PYMA Afterschool Programme   become assigned for a period of 1 year. If a Tutor is still interested in tutoring in the next year, we advise the latter to re-apply through our website ( www.pyma.co.za)

No. Any Tutor enrolled in our Afterschool programme is not  a full time employee of PYMA. All Tutors are provided with a flexible programme schedule that allows them to work with us on a part time basis.
